Article 25.

Acquiring Bulgarian citizenship by naturalisation

Art. 12. (1) (prev. text of Art. 12 – SG 108/13) A person who is not a Bulgarian citizen can acquire Bulgarian citizenship if by the date of filing the application for naturalisation:

1. he has become of age;

Art. 12a (new – SG 16/13; amend. – SG 108/13) A person, who is granted a permanent residence permit on the grounds of Art. 25, Para 1, items 6, 7 or 8, or as a member of the family of such person, oron the grounds or Art. 25, para 1, item 13 – in relation with Art. 25c, Para 2 and 3; or Art. 25, Para 1, item 16 of the Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria Act amt acquire Bulgarian Citizenship if he/she meets the requirements of Art. 12, para 1, items 1,2,3,and 4.
